Pro eRehab - an insight into its inception and how we work?

We are a team of 6 Healthcare professionals from different Specialities like Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy working for children with Disabilities and making their lives better. However with the COVID19 induced Lockdown, we had a restriction on our clinical practice as it will have opportunities for cross infection or spreading (as our therapy practice involves close contact and hands-on like helping them stand and walk by holding their hands or supporting them / in case for speech issues like needing to work on the mouth and relevant areas).
Hence a thought arises to use Tele-rehabilitation / Tele-Health as a medium to be in touch with our Patients and train the parents to handle the kids and keep our practices going in this lockdown. But we wanted to have something different from the regular online session that can generate interest in parents and children. So the innovative aspect of this project which we started on the 6th of April 2020 is to have a team approach wherein we all 3 professional specialists see a Patient online together which otherwise in-person is not a feasible or possible option. This is our USP that makes our approach through online and unique one. In addition to this online sessions, we also do free training for Patients and caregivers on specific topics related to children's disabilities for empowering and educating the parents. On the other side we continue to explore more options using the online medium and reached out to even Patients across the borders as well and now we feel it's a viable option in future too even after the lockdown,r out to distant Patients and have a safe practice without personal contact with the children with Disabilities who are at high risk of infection considering their weak physical nature.

We named our Service as "Pro eRehab"
We are 6 Healthcare / Rehabilitation Professionals who started this up:
Archana Sharma, MOT, Occupational Therapist
Arushi Gupta, BOT, Occupational Therapist
Archana Marigowda, MSLP, Speech Therapist
Ashrita Achar, MSLP, Speech Therapist
Priya Kuberan, MPT, Physiotherapist
Joshua Samuel R, MPT, Physiotherapist

We are from different practice areas like Bangalore, Chennai, Himachal and Delhi but we still connect amongst us and with the patients and deliver our services efficiently.
Affordable rehabilitation is also one thing that we all are working towards and we believe Telerehab or an online medium of delivering therapy services is one way of doing it.

Pro eRehab: Online Team Based Rehabilitation

An exclusive online rehabilitation service from a team of rehabilitation professionals
for children with disabilities.

Why Pro eRehab?
Amidst this COVID19 induced lockdown where there is a challenge between the patient and rehabilitation professionals meet up especially in the pediatric group who are affected by key Neuro-deveopmental conditions like cerebral palsy and autism, there is a push towards online / distant rehabilitation over a possible available mode of Tele-health. However, the challenge even during face to face rehabilitation is to have all the key rehabilitation professionals at one space.

What is Pro eRehab?
With our new strategy "Pro eRehab" we not only connect to patients online, but also if required an opportunity to provide the much needed dual or multi professionals rehabilitation care at one go. The first online session for the child once enrolled will be taken up by the rehabilitation team comprising of Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and if required a Speech therapist or related rehabilitation professionals as well to start with. Once the online assessment is done based on the child's activities assisted by the parent / caregiver, the plan is laid down individualized that include online guided sessions with the rehabilitation professionals and also offline activities.
We believe this mode and strategy of Rehabilitation would not only help the children at need during this lockdown phase, but also to cater to distant patients in having a systematic follow-up, continuity with the rehabilitation and the much required parental involvement in the child's treatment and progress.

Pro eRehab Core Team:
We are a team of 6 Rehabilitation Professionals – 2 Physiotherapists, 2 Occupational Therapists and 2 Speech Therapists, with the common goal of providing the best possible online rehabilitation solutions for children with disabilities working as a team.

Major goals for the Pre eRehab Team:
1. Provide online consultation and recommendation to the children with rehabilitation needs.
2. Home based online and offline guided individualized tailored programs for conditions like Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and other neurodevelopment disorders.
3. Parental training and involving parents as key deliverers of rehabilitation.
4. Follow a systematic team based assessment and follow-up methods during the COVID19 induced lockdown as well as post that too as a useful distant mode of rehabilitation.

Exercising with Masks

As gradually Physiotherapy clinics and Exercise centres begins to open up, just a friendly note or a reminder on the following: 1. Wearing mask can have an effect on your breathing (air flow restriction), so be cautious and careful when your advising exercises for an individual who is having pre-existing breathing conditions. 2. Exercises for children with masks should be extra careful, as they might not understand that difficulty in breathing is mask related. 3. During Exercises, mask can displace, which will force you to correct it especially if it goes up and covers your vision field. At this point the chances of touching your face or eyes are higher. 4. Mask can get wet during Exercises due to moisture in exhaled air or sweat or secretions. Wet mask can harbour pathogens and needs to be replaced. 5. Remember wearing mask while exercising fatigues you more, so be conscious of it and set your exercise goals accordingly. In short: Exercise is beneficial. Start slowly and pr...

What is Happiness?

What is #Happiness? 💛#Money can only buy happiness up to about $75,000 – after that, it has no significant effect on our emotional well-being (Kahneman & Deaton, 2010). 💛Most of our happiness is not determined by our #genetics, but by our experiences and our day-to-day lives (Lyubomirsky, Sheldon, & Schkade, 2005). 💛Trying too hard to find happiness often has the opposite effect and can lead us to be overly #selfish (Mauss et al., 2012). 💛Pursuing happiness through #social means (e.g., spending more time with family and friends) is more likely to be effective than other methods (Rohrer, Richter, Brümmer, Wagner, & Schmukle, 2018). 💛The pursuit of happiness is one place where we should consider ditching the SMART goals; it may be more effective to pursue “vague” happiness #goals than more specific ones (Rodas, Ahluwalia, & Olson, 2018). 💛Happiness makes us better citizens – it is a good predictor of civic engagement in the #transition to adulthood (Fang, Gal...
